sad songs.
The other day I was thinking about things that truly make you feel. (Hold on for a second, I hope this isn’t as corny as it sounds.)
I’ve have always been one to scoff (even if inwardly) when people talk about songs that make them cry. I’ve considered it to be a pansy sort of thing to do, and I never had. I think grade 12 was the first time that I did. From that day, there are only 3 songs that have made me cry. (And this is from a girl whose favourite kind of music is the mellow kind.)
The first was this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHZ4xoNvcY8
This is Dan Mangan and Shane Koyczan singing Tragic Turn of Events/Move Pen Move
(I didn’t take this video, but I was at this venue on this day, and I was thrilled that they did this song - they said that they hadn’t in a few years because it’s really hard.)
For this one, I wasn’t in a sad state when I heard it, it’s just a heartbreaking song.
Then this one: Broad Ripple Is Burning - Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos.

This song was on the “December 2010” CD in my car. During that Christmas break I was listening to it on the way home from Ben’s house. It was during his first week back from Edmonton, and I was entirely torn between being delighted that we were reunited and miserable that he was going to leave in half the time it had been since he had gotten home.
The latest is the song I Hurt Too by Katie Herzig. It’s just really easy to get caught up in this one when you sing along in the car and admit that sometimes things aren’t as okay as you’d like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqBME4NQ8Tc
Welp, this is easily the most personal “tumble” that I’ll ever write, but I felt compelled after listening to Tragic Turn of Events earlier.
